There's a problem with the title of this song. The thing is, another song exists called "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" (it goes, "Swing low sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home...." and is often heard at rugby matches!). It seems that they were both originally part of the same song, but have somehow become separated in time! (The Fisk University Jubilee Quartet's version, recorded on 1 December 1909 and released on Victor 16453, was titled "Swing Low Sweet Chariot")
A different version of this number was recorded for the film "The Trouble With Girls" and was not officially released until 1995 on the CD, "Double Features: Live a Little, Love a Little; Charro!; The Trouble With Girls; Change of Habit."
It is possible that an earlier recording of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" was made on a cylinder by the Standard Quartette in 1894, but I have been unable to confirm this.
